A company starts an agile initiative in order to iteratively implement a holistic portfolio and benefits management. The iterations correspond to agile releases and emerge from multiple roll-outs within different business units. The goal is to achieve the ideal utilization of resources which leads to the ability to forecast whether a project can be started or not. One increment is the introduction of resource management. Thus, this agile initiative is supported by two sub-projects: Implement a resource management approach as well as a resource management technology evaluation to determine needed technology.
Planning with Microsoft Project
As a result of the resource management approach project, the company can forecast the needed capacity to realize benefits. As the sub-project manager uses MS Project to manage the “Resource Management approach Project”, MS Project schedules the implementation milestone for the 2nd of April.
