Focus on sustainability: DAK-Gesundheit aims for carbon neutrality by 2030.

Climate neutrality by 2030: this is the ambitious sustainability goal of DAK-Gesundheit.

As Germany's oldest health insurance company, DAK-Gesundheit has a long tradition in health care and is committed to sustainable action to protect both the environment and the health of its members. However, the basis for achieving climate neutrality is not only the right measures, but also the precise measurement of emissions as a first step.

To achieve this goal, the company needed to implement structured processes and technologies to track and reduce carbon emissions. Existing systems were fragmented and data collection was largely manual. In addition, there was a lack of a central data platform and clear responsibilities for recording the corporate carbon footprint (CCF). As a result, DAK-Gesundheit decided to bring in strategic partners to integrate methodological and technical expertise and develop a comprehensive, automated emissions management solution.

The solution: methodical and technological cooperation

DAK-Gesundheit decided to work closely with Campana & Schott and myclimate to determine its carbon footprint and develop measures to reduce it. The first step was to collect and analyze relevant data, such as electricity consumption and employee mobility. This data was recorded and categorized in a comprehensive emissions inventory.

In cooperation with myclimate, Campana & Schott contributed methodological expertise to the creation of the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF), provided support in data collection and analysis, and ensured compliance with recognized standards. In addition, Campana & Schott implemented the Microsoft Sustainability Manager, integrated it into the IT landscape of DAK-Gesundheit and offered comprehensive support in the digitalization and automation of sustainability measures.

Knowledge transfer enables independent measurement of the CCF

The seamless integration of methodological knowledge and technological implementation was critical to this project. The implementation of Microsoft Sustainability Manager played a central role. This cloud-based platform enables the efficient collection and analysis of emissions data. "With Campana & Schott, we have a strong partner for the digitalization and automation of our sustainability measures," explains Linda Schmidt, Product Manager Sustainability at DAK-Gesundheit.

The result is a comprehensive and automated solution for the emission management of DAK-Gesundheit. Another important point was the transfer of knowledge to the sustainability team, so that DAK-Gesundheit can measure the CCF independently in the future and implement appropriate sustainability measures in a targeted manner. "Measuring and monitoring the company's carbon footprint is a decisive step for DAK-Gesundheit on the way to climate neutrality, and we are very proud to be part of this exciting journey," says Lea Kraus, Senior Consultant Business Sustainability at Campana & Schott.

Outlook: On track for climate neutrality

DAK-Gesundheit plans to continue on its path to climate neutrality, meeting both regulatory requirements and technological challenges. This includes optimizing and expanding future emissions management and reporting with the help of the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability. "In our relentless pursuit of sustainability, we are not only shaping the future of our company, but also protecting the health and well-being of everyone at DAK-Gesundheit. Every employee plays a key role in our journey to a greener, healthier future," said Kathrin Gronau, Chief Customer Officer at DAK-Gesundheit.
